From Brueghel to Rubens

Brussels, Royal Museums of Fine Arts

The Royal Museums of Fine Arts reassemble some fifty outstanding works of art by the Masters of the Low Countries between the fifteenth and the seventeenth centuries. Works by Hans Memling, Quinten Metsys, Jan Gossaert, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, Peter Paul Rubens and Anthony Van Dyck are sure to please the most refined connoisseur.

The paintings are on loan from the collection held in trust by Queen Elizabeth II.  The British royal collection is renowned for its great holding of works especially by Rubens and Van Dyck, both artists having spent time in England. The entrance fee is 9 Euro.

The Royal Museums of Arts are home to a rich collection of art work. The Museum of Ancient Art houses paintings, sculptures and drawings from the 15th to the 18th century. The Modern Art section houses works of art from the end of the 18th century up to the modern period and is also home to the Antoine Wiertz and Constantin Meunier Museums. The later two museums being devoted to artists who were key figures in Belgian art in the 19th century. For more information visit the website of the museums.
